Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life on Deck” highlighted the upscale dining experience over fifteen years ago when the problematic twins Zack and Cody Martin (Dylan and Cole Sprouse) tried to acquire a table at an Italian restaurant. For lovers of “Suite Life,” this week has become an unofficial holiday from what initially appeared to be an unattainable reservation in 2009.
Fans celebrate the fictional twins’ arrival for dinner reservation with a video clip from the series “When in Rome…” episode that has reappeared on social media.
Zack, Cody, and their pals dock in the Italian city in the 2009 episode as a diversion from their cruise ship school antics. With a penchant for gourmet dining, Cody takes Zack to a restaurant owned by renowned chef Gigi, dubbed the “Michelangelo of manicotti.”
Inside the restaurant, they meet the stuck-up Chef Gigi (Sandra Purpuro), who tells the brothers she has an opening for dinner. “I can squeeze you in at 7:30 … on Nov. 16 of 2023,” she says. Yes, that’s 7:30 p.m. today.
“That’s in 15 years,” Cody replies.
“What if I don’t feel like Italian that day?” Zack jokes.
