Randy Etting took a picture of the strange UFO that was hovering in the night sky

A commercial airline pilot from Newtown, Connecticut, Randy Etting took a nighttime walk on May 26, 1987. When he walked, he often studied the sky, trying to identify passing planes.

Around 9:45, he noticed some orange and red lights approaching from the west. He grabbed his binoculars and called his neighbors outside. According to Etting, those watching the UFO pulled over on Interstate 84 as it passed over. Over 200 people called the police to report a UFO between 9:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.

The object had a semicircular pattern of highly bright and multicolored lights. As the lights passed by, several drivers reported their cars losing power. Then, 15 minutes later, calls came in from New Milford, about 14 miles north, saying lights for what many believed to be an object “larger than a football field.” However, the lights eventually disappeared.
