The Haunting of Old Historic Harriman Hospital
The economy of Roane County is benefiting from a historic hospital that has been converted into a tourist destination. Before paranormal sleuth Ronnie Dee gave the Old Historic Harriman Hospital new life, it had been deserted for approximately ten years. According to Dee, hospitals are exceptional because they are the only structure in America where everything, including birth, death, and everything in between, takes place. The building’s past and current are very distinct from one another. It is currently a popular destination for ghost-hunting groups and tourists to explore.
The site’s economic impact on Roane County is far less unsettling. The facility has generated significant buzz since it opened in March. A 200-person film crew completed a prominent motion picture production this week. At the same time, PBS wrapped up a documentary that will air in 2023, and the Travel Channel’s Destination Fear taped an episode that will air in December. These large-scale productions also generate significant revenue for the City of Harriman.
