The Joliet Prison is one of the oldest prisons in America, It has a deep, dark history, and it was built in 1858 to house criminals. Inmates were forced to live in horrid conditions, and many inmates died here. The prison has six buildings, including the guard tower, administrative structure, and east and west cells.
