The Betz UFO sphere: Where is it?
In March or April 1974, Terry Betz, a 21-year-old pre-med student, found a peculiar metallic sphere about the size of a bowling ball while walking in the woods with his family on their Fort George Island property in Jacksonville. Intrigued by the object, Terry decided to keep it as a memento, unaware of how it would impact their lives in the years to come.
The Betzes did not notice the orb until Terry began playing his guitar close to it one day. Something odd happened, according to Gerri, who took on the role of family spokesperson for sphere-related issues: the ball began buzzing again. It soon began to exhibit other peculiar behaviors, such as rolling around as if on its initiative, like it was dancing by rolling around. The “Betz Sphere,” sometimes referred to as the “mystery sphere” or just the “Odd Ball,” soon gained notoriety.
