Stuck in Space
Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams chose to take a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule back to Earth instead of the Boeing Starliner spacecraft they took into orbit. This ends months of rumors and tension within the space agency about how and when the two crew members could safely return. It was planned that the mission would last for eight days. However, they will go home sometime next year in 2025.
What?
Have they been in space for that long? If you scream in space, no one will hear you, only aliens flying by. They might crash into Earth.
NASA said it would free up two seats on a future SpaceX launch called Crew-9. This launch will bring a new group of crew members to the space station in orbit. Instead of carrying four men, Wilmore and Williams can take two. This will allow them to fly back in the empty seats at the end of the Crew-9 mission in February.
The Crew-9 flight is set to leave from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on September 24.
It’s a long journey to get back home.
So, they will miss October, when we have Halloween. For trick-or-treating, the only neighbors they have are aliens.
They will miss Thanksgiving.
Also, the aliens will find a chimney on the craft, hurry down, and give them their Christmas gifts on Christmas.
One of these days, it will be a TV series on Netflix. Who will watch it?
