So how do you Spell Taradacdl?
Controversy is nothing new to the Chester County School District. Two separate incidents of individuals entering the district’s schools and getting into fights made headlines in September. Test results for the district are similarly appalling and have been for a while.
It therefore came as little surprise to The Lantern when it was revealed that a teacher had allegedly disciplined a student for accurately spelling the term pterodactyl. Only in first grade at the time was the student in issue involved. The teacher allegedly suspended the youngster for three days after the pupil fixed the word’s typo, as shown in the illustration below.
Stacy Westoreland, the student’s mother, said, “They once told my son he was “dumb” for knowing pterodactyl started with a “p” since he shouldn’t know that since you can’t hear the “p”. He was then suspended for disputing with a teacher after explaining that he had learned it from dinosaur train. And watching the Jurassic World movies.
The humiliating part was when the teacher took an hour to look for the word in the dictionary. She couldn’t find it. It does not begin with the letter “T.”
