Sir Isaac Newton: Getting Hit by an Apple Can Make You Smarter
English mathematician, physicist, and astronomer Isaac Newton predicted the world’s end. He is regarded as one of the most outstanding scientists of all time and is credited with developing the laws of motion and universal gravity. He made the apple famous that landed on his head. He predicted the end of the world would take place in 2060.
Newton’s forecast was based on the Protestant reading of the Bible. He accepted the narrative of the Apocalypse found in the last book of the New Testament.
According to the Bible, the conflict between the forces of good and evil will herald the end of the world and the beginning of a new one.
Newton used mathematical calculations based on biblical historical dates to get his conclusion.
He concluded that the Apocalypse would occur 1,260 years after the establishment of the Holy Roman Empire. He began in 800 AD, the year of Charlemagne’s coronation, and added 1,260 years to get to 2060:
