Savannah, Georgia, has a well-deserved reputation for being one of the most haunted in America. Its historic charm, enticing ghost stories, and well-preserved architecture create a frightening yet compelling ambiance for explorers and paranormal seekers. In this article, we will explore some of Savannah’s most haunted sites, each with a rich historical significance that offers a deeper understanding of the city’s past. These sites include the eerie Ebenezer Creek, the historic Wright Square, and the infamous Sorrel Weed House. The Savannah Theater, where a ghost is watching plays, and the Haunted Moon River Brewing Company, where a bar stool would move by itself.

Sorrel Weed House

One of Savannah’s oldest houses, the Sorrel Weed House, dates back to 1840 and is a remarkable example of Greek Revival architecture. Wealthy businessman Francis Sorrel and his wife owned it, and their turbulent lives left a lasting impression on the home.

Francis Sorrel, who built the home for his family in the 1840s, and Henry Davis Weed, who purchased the home from the Sorrels in 1859, are credited with giving the Sorrel Weed House its name.
