My Old Friend was a Ghost
It was 2020, and we were wearing a mask to protect ourselves from the deadly pandemic we were having. I was careful not to get sick. And I look funny in my car. I wore a mask and a shield while going to a private party for a class reunion.
People in their cars were staring at me, and I was staring at them, sticking a thumbs up to people and mouthing the words. “I am protected” to people passing by. Or the finger to annoy them. Luckily no sirens.
The roads were like a ghost town, with not too many cars. Only a raccoon was watching me. Weird.
Since I graduated from High School in 1985, it’s good to see old friends. Yep, I am old. We all get old sometime. I still looked young when I was a teenager back then. It must have been the air outside making me younger as I get older. I guess. Never mind.
Anyway, while I was driving down the road, I saw someone on the side of the road. She flagged me down, and I recognized her. It was one of the good friends I hadn’t seen in a while. It was Tori. She got in the car, and we started to talk. I have not seen her for a long time. It seems like twenty years. She looked the same, and I looked the same. It seems we never change.
