In celebrating Mother’s Day the other day, here are some cases in which mother knows best about killing their family.

Marybeth Tinning was found guilty in 1985 of killing Tami Lynne, her four-month-old daughter. Tinning received a sentence ranging from 20 years to life in jail for suffocating the victim.

Since eight of Tinning’s nine children died under questionable circumstances between 1972 and 1985, the case garnered national attention. Despite Tinning’s indictment in three different deaths, authorities only pursued Tami Lynne’s case. Tinning has refuted claims that it killed the other kids.

On September 11, 1942, Tinning was born in Duanesburg, New York. Her babies were dead or very near death, and she was a homemaker and former school bus operator who was frequently spotted in the emergency rooms of Schenectady. When Tinning’s adoptive child passed away in 1981, the authorities didn’t look into it since they first thought that a genetic issue caused her children’s deaths.

August 21, 2018, saw Tinning’s release from prison; she will spend the remainder of her life under parole…
