If you haven’t seen any of the Planted of the Apes movies, the prequel to the franchise’s hit blockbuster film started like this: The monkeys escape from the lab.
Over 40 mischievous rhesus macaque monkeys have staged a whimsical escape from an Alpha Genesis research facility in Beaufort County, South Carolina. These cheeky little escape artists have been up to monkey business, leaving authorities scrambling and citizens doubling down on door locks.
Just imagine it! Like a scene straight out of a terrifying movie, 43 primate pranksters leaped to freedom, prompting a full-scale operation involving traps, thermal imaging cameras, and lots of bananas. With the best monkey round-up experience on this side of the Atlantic, the authorities even took to social media, asking the good folks of South Carolina to steer clear of this monkey magic in the making. No need to worry; these monkeys won’t attack.
Amidst the excitement, the Yemassee Police Department had simple yet wise advice for the townspeople: ensure doors and windows are securely locked.
