First was Goldie Hawn, and now Kurt Russell

Within the UFO community, the 1997 Phoenix Lights are a well-known occurrence. Less well-known is that Kurt Russell was the first pilot to report this now-famous UFO sighting; he casually disclosed this information in a recent BBC interview.

Russell clarified, “I was flying [his son Oliver] to go see his girlfriend, and we were on approach.” “I observed six lights in a V configuration over the airport, all perfectly uniform. I stared at Oliver as we approached, maybe a half mile away, when he asked, “Pa, what are those lights?”

I don’t know what they are, I said as I snapped out of my daydream. “Are we okay here?” he asked. I reported it after saying, “Yeah, I’m going to call it in.”

Russell moved on from the event without thinking about it. The seriousness of the issue didn’t dawn on him until a few years later when he saw his wife, Goldie Hawn, watching a TV program on the Phoenix Lights. He compares the scene to something from “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” which gives his real-life experience a hint of dramatic cinematography.
