George Taylor House is haunted

The George Taylor House is a historic house museum located at 114 S. 3rd Street in York, Pennsylvania. The house was built in 1772 by George Taylor, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The house is a two-story, five-bay brick Georgian townhouse. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

George Taylor

George Taylor was born in 1716 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of a Quaker farmer. Taylor was educated at home and then apprenticed to a merchant.

He wed Hannah Irwin in 1739, and they had seven children together. And later, he married Hannah Pennock in 1741. The couple had six children.

Drama!

Taylor was active in local government and served in the Pennsylvania Assembly from 1764 to 1774. He was a delegate to the Second Continental Congress from 1775 to 1777. Taylor was one of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence. Taylor died in 1796 at the age of 80.

The George Taylor House is open to the public for tours. The house is furnished with period furniture and artifacts. The home also has a museum that tells the story of George Taylor and his family.
