In the space race before Apollo 11, there were hundreds of missions. Testing was crucial. Both sides, the United States and Russia, wanted to land on the moon. To make sure their mission works, they had to sacrifice to make this mission accomplished. They had to use a living creature who could be trainable. They used dogs.
