Crocodile and Alligators on Ice
A fascinating lot are alligators. They are cold-blooded beings that depend on solar radiation for thermoregulation, the process by which an organism controls its body temperature. What occurs when the sun’s beams become less intense and the temperature drops?
They enter a state of dormancy. Many people on the internet are interested in a recent video that shows a man assisting an alligator in extremely freezing weather. Tansu Yegen shared a video on Twitter showing him seeing multiple heads emerge from a frozen lake.
As a result, the man gave in to his curiosity and investigated the situation. It dawned on him later that the heads emerging from the water belonged to alligators that had slowed down their metabolism to withstand the cold. The voice-overs in the film identify the man as George Howard and explain that his goal was to allow the creatures a little space to unwind by thawing the snow that had frozen around their bodies rather than attempting to release them.
Howard manages the Swamp Park in southern North Carolina. He said, “Just an absolute survival technique,” as he was in awe of the creatures in the video. These folks are incredible survivors, really.
